ECLECTICA #13: BUREAU 13 compiled June 1999 by Paul Estin http://home.intranet.org/~estin/cd/ This collection contains eclectic songs about the weird, the paranormal and the unexplainable—in short, the sort of phenomena that one sees on The X- Files. However, I titled it “Bureau 13” after a lesser-known fictional work and also after a group mentioned only once on the show Babylon 5. The tracks themselves are fairly self-explanatory, dealing with such topics as spontaneous human combustion, telepathy, aliens and UFOs, auras, the Bermuda Triangle, evil twins, reincarnation, and the Lovecraftian mythos. Scattered throughout are also appropriate theme songs, generally weird and bizarre tales, a song about tabloids, and more about motherships. There’s also Christine Lavin’s “Good Thing He Can’t Read My Mind,” which doesn’t really fit exactly, but it’s a great song—the first I ever heard by her, after which I was already hooked—and it also sets up Tom Smith’s response well. Enjoy!
