Within the icy barreness of the Internet, I'm creating my own little home. Sit back and relax - pull your touque down around your ears and mosey on through the patchwork of grass and snow that is scattered before you.

I have updated the Nihon Diary section a bit. There are still pieces missing (diary entries that I began and haven't finished). More coming, as I have the time and the energy to do it. Right now, all I want to do is mourn the tragic events that have happened recently, both in the USA and at home in Edmonton. I feel like I'm in a fog right now. I look forward to the time when the fog lifts and hope is revealed bright and shining once more.

Thought I would give a little update on myself while I am on the schools
computer checking my email. I arrived in Obihiro on Wednesday and things
are going well. Everything is an adventure - exploring town on bike and
getting lost, trying to buy groceries, meeting the
teachers. Nihongo-dame! Oh, how I wish that I had studied Japanese a bit
more. Ah well, looks like I will have time here. Right now, I am working
on my katakana as that looks like it will be most useful.
As for email, I am checking it every couple of days although I am not
doing much writing myself. The keyboards here are, uhm, rather different
with sometimes four different functions per a key. I am looking to get
myself hooked up at home with high speed access - on the 20th I will be in
Sapporo for an orientation/language camp, so I will pick peoples brains at
that point in time for the best way to go about it.
If anyone is really bored, please feel free to write a letter to me. I
haven't figured out how to buy stamps, yet, but it would be a good
incentive for me to try. Miss you guys and gals!

I recovered a portion of my guestbook from a friend's
cache. Yay! Tomorrow I fly out of Edmonton and into Japan on a 15
hr flight. I'm not
feeling ready but who does when they are taking a big leap into the
unknown? Hope to have an update in the Nihon
Chronicles soon and fill you all in on the Tokyo orientation. For
those of you interested in where I'll be staying, I can be found at
the Keio
Plaza. Shnazzy!
Just discovered some problems with the navigation bar today, as
well. I'll try to fix those when I get my laptop running again with a
internet connection. Heard the Keio Plaza has free internet access in
each guest room so maybe my update will be soon!

Yesterday when I was uploading updates to my site, I overwrote my guestbook. *sigh* It had some pretty wonderful messages from my soon-to-be-students in Japan. Tis a sad mistake, indeed.

I'm slowly adding more information to the site. Today I added more to the "Favourites" section.
