My First Entry

There is less than a month to go until I leave and I still feel like I've got a million and one things to do. So many people to see, things to send, omiyagi to buy, items to pack, furnature to move... The list seems unlimited.

If I manage to get packed and make the flight, I'm going to be teaching in Obihiro City on the island of Hokkaido. I'll be teaching at a local high school taking over the position Amber, my predecessor, held for three years. I find myself a bit in awe and a bit scared to be taking over from someone who has been there for so long. Will I be able to fill the position as well as she has? What expectations will the teachers and students have based on how my predecessor handled things? All sorts of questions buzz around in my head and bother me at 3am. Despite my hesitations and fears, the more overpowering sensation that envelopes me is excitement. At long last, my dream of living in Japan is going to realized. One of my dreams is coming true!
