When I was in grade eight, I had a wonderful teacher named Josephine Hoffman. She had taught in Japan and in the Northwest Territories and enjoyed sharing stories about the adventures she had experienced. She planted the seed of desire in me to work in Japan and immerse myself in the culture.

After many years of daydreaming about teaching in Japan, it looks like it's finally going to come true. I've been accepted on the JET Programme. JET stands for "Japan Exchange and Teaching" and is fairly widely recognized as one of the better programs. I'm excited and scared and a bit too busy to think clearly.

I'm hoping to set up a diary online where I will attempt to keep in contact with everyone. I am horrible at regular correspondence but I shall try!!
