Pagan Musicians

These are some of my favorite Pagan artists -- more will be added soon.
Songs of the Wheel IAN CORRIGAN (Folk)

Ian has written some very Wiccan songs, even though he's no longer Wiccan (he's a Druid). He also sings traditional folk songs, and often performs with Moira Kyteler. Ian's voice is rich, strong and sensitive. Highly, highly recommended.

Lady Isadora has a high, rich soprano voice, she writes good stuff, occasionally including some excellent guitar riffs. Content ranges from Arthurian ballads to vegetarian anthems.

Ruth and Cyntia have been writing and recording Goddess music for a long time. Their first two albums "Aeolis" and "Music of the Rolling World" have just been released on a single CD. Sweet voices, dulcimer playing and pleasant lyrics grace both original and traditional songs.

The Faerie Shaman

GWYDION PENDDERWEN (Folk)

Gwydion Pendderwen was the bard of the Church of All Worlds in the 70's and co-founder of the Faerie tradition of Witchcraft; his two groundbreaking albums "Songs for the Old Religion" and "The Faerie Shaman" have also just been released on a double CD-set. The sound isn't so good, but the songs are worth knowing and hearing.

Craig is my favorite find of 1999. A friend dubbed him the "Don Henley of Pagan music." Buttery voice, excellent production and thoughtful lyrics make this a must-have. Craig, do more stuff!

TODD ALAN (Folk-Rock)

Todd Alan's "Carry Me Home" has a great selection of "Pagan classics."

LEIGH ANN HUSSEY (Celtic Rock)

Leigh Ann Hussey used to do more pop-y folk-y stuff, but now she's with Annwn, a Celtic rock band.

About Leigh Ann: http://www.elfhill.com/

T. THORN COYLE (Rock) T. Thorn Coyle's brand new album "Face of a New Day" sounds a like a blend of Ani Difranco and Natalie Merchant... hard-driving, strong grrrl music.

About T. Thorn: http://members.aol.com/ivod/newday.html

STEELEYE SPAN (Folk-Rock)
JETHRO TULL (Rock)

70's Brit folk-rock; many Pagans swear by it (especially "Songs from the Wood").

MOTHERTONGUE (Choral)

Mothertongue has a great selection of choral Pagan music, including an excellent CD "This Winter's Night" with a dozen selections for Yule. "FireDance!" is also really good.

About Mothertongue: http://www.earthspirit.com/mtongue/mothertongue.html

CHARLIE MURPHY (Choral, Folk-Rock)

If you like gospel, or even if you only like it a little, Charlie Murphy and a gospel choir did an excellent album of Pagan chants: "Canticles of Light." Highly recommended.

RECLAIMING (Chant)

Reclaiming has several good CDs, including "Second Chants" and "Let it Begin Now," and a brand new one, "Through the Darkness," which I don't like quite as much but is still good.

About Reclaiming: http://www.reclaiming.org/about/music.html

ROBERT GASS/ON WINGS OF SONG (Choral)

Robert Gass and the group On Wings of Song has a very worthwhile album of chants from many cultures called "Ancient Mother."

MOVING BREATH (Chant)

Moving Breath does well-produced work.
