New! DrSnark.com, featuring my "band", Dr. Snark, is up and running!
For many years, I enjoyed compiling tape mixes. Then, in June 1998, I bought a CD writer for my PC, and ever since, one of my favorite hobbies has been to compile CD mixes. On these pages, I've collected information about each of my mixes: tracklists, liner notes, covers, and other creative compositions, plus some sample mp3s.
Note my personal policy regarding CD mixes, copying, and copyright.
ECLECTICA
[June 1998 to Present]
The flagship series of my CD mixes, in which I've compiled some of my
favorite weird, funny, funky songs that also bear repeated listening. I got
carried away adding songs for thematic completion, however, so I've also
re-edited some highlights and selections into new "abridged" mixes, including
Take Cover.
YKYBWTMB5W
[v.1 (cassette) compiled July 1997, v.2 edited October
1999]
The title stands for "You Know You've Been Watching Too Much Babylon 5
When..." This was originally a tape mix I made in July 1997, when Babylon 5 was then in the
middle of its 4th season. I was inspired by the realization that many songs
having nothing whatsoever to do with Babylon 5 nonetheless reminded me of
phrases, themes, and quotes from the show. For example, Oingo Boingo's song
"No One Lives Forever" contained the line "Let's have a party / There's a full
moon in the sky / It's the Hour of the Wolf / And I just want to die"-- The
Hour Of The Wolf being an 4th season episode title. To clarify how each song
is related to B5, each is preceded by a sound clip from the show. The
"YKYBWTMB5W" CD mix is a cleaned-up and slightly-abbreviated version of the
original tape mix, re-editing some parts and cutting out a couple of the
lesser songs that didn't fit.

SUBJUNCTIVELY YOURS: [March 1999]
Songs about hypotheticals and speculations. I had many good songs left over

DIAMONDS ARE A BOY'S BEST FRIEND:
[April 1999]
Compiling many fine songs about baseball. For some reason, baseball just makes
a fine topic for a song or a movie, much better than any other sport.
