I've created several sets of CD mixes, but the highlight has been the "Eclectica" series. The original objective was to simply compile my favorite weird and funny songs-- the songs I force my poor friends to listen to ("ooh, ohh, you gotta hear this, this is bizarre!"). However, I also wanted to choose songs that would bear repeated listening. Furthermore, as I started putting together these mixes, I found it hard to stick to my idea of merely collecting "singles," and so most of the Eclectica mixes have some sort of theme, and incorporate songs that you don't "gotta hear" but which are still pretty weird and which help make a satistfying mix. Still, the proportion of "ooh, ooh, you gotta hear this" songs are higher on Eclectica than on my other CD mixes, and the "themes" are correspondingly looser. I'm pretty proud of the results, however, even as the Eclectica series has grown out of control. :-)
Nevertheless, I'm editing special selections and highlights of the eclectica series, trying to get back to the original concept.. so as not have so many CDs to bring along with me when I visit people. :-)
